This is going out on a limb: My working assumption is that when one's consciousness gets very developed spiritually, sex consciousness naturally fades way into the background. Celibacy goes hand in hand with greatly developed spiritual awareness. However, the representatives of religious organizations, not really understanding the "why" of celibacy, require celibacy of those who are not yet developed enough spiritually to comply. This unnatural suppression perverts the clergy's sexual urges and the results in pedophilia or other unhealthy psychoemotional expressions. Instead of appointing clergy who are ALREADY spiritually developed enough to easily and naturally be celibate, they instead appoint as clergy those who simply have the IDEAL of being spiritually developed and celibate. This doesn't work. It's like appointing a kid to be an expert auto mechanic when all he has is his aspirations and good intentions, but no actual knowledge.
