comment to marketwatch re ill gov blagovich cyber-lynch mob

good comment jim-devine. to have the freedom we have, you have to permit quite a lot in the way of personal liberties (and the constitution has allowed for this) along with a system to deal with the really bad apples when they go too far.

if you go for instant frontier justice, and it becomes commonplace, freedoms will be eroded. deliberate weighing of evidence will go by the wayside. anarchy will loom.

by not instantly "beheading" blogovich, but instead letting the judicial processes and the court of public opinion escort him into the halls of infamy (or, grind him into a fine dust, if you prefer) we are acting in a much more civilized manner.
