i don't get it. why does tw have to apologize for anything? athletes and celebrities philander. nothing new. why such a big deal? he's a golfer, not the head of the catholic church.
many of the greats, like Babe Ruth, messed around a lot. it could be argued that this is a test of whether tw is one of the greats. if he lets his philandering stand between him and winning majors, then one could argue that tw doesn't have what it takes to be great. if you are to be great, you don't let anything stand in the way of you and a great performance.
