Following is a post made to an article at this locationNo defense is really needed. Only two sources of energy can provide the majority of the enormous energy needs of civilization in the foreseeable future. One of the sources is coal. The other is nuclear.

There is no contest: coal is FAR more deadly than nuclear. Thousands of people year-in, year-out, are killed or suffer debilitating diseases from producing and burning coal. Nuclear energy production seldom kills anyone. The problem is that people are scared of nuclear. So, they wind up with the far more poisonous coal.

There is no need for spin or PR flaks. Facts are facts. Coal is far more deadly than nuclear, anytime, any year. Nuclear seldom kills anyone.

The real problem is unreasoning fear.
